Inspiration
Let go and have some fun in this highly energising and liberating art workshop that channels the colourful and slightly mad style of Matisse. Perfect for absolute beginners and artists alike, discover freedom in glorious colour!
Favouring bright colours and bold simplifications, the early 20th Century French artist is synonymous with strong, expressive paintings so leave your insecurities at the studio door and roll up your sleeves to this therapeutic art form.
The Process
Working on large boards, you can choose your favourite Matisse to inspire you and change it to you preferred colour palette to hang in your home. Matisse tended to use pure colours so very little colours need to be mixed, maybe just a little white to soften!
Having chosen a Matisse painting from a varied selection of images you’ll roughly sketch it out on a board using a grid guide to mirror the detail. Then it’s time to be brave. With Susie at your side, you’ll bring the board to life with colour, big and bold strokes and masses of passion.
The Workshop
You’ll begin by capturing the work of a chosen Cornish seascape artist, injecting it with your own personality and artistic style. Comfortable with a paint brush and with the basic techniques under your belt, you’ll then move onto choosing your own Cornish seascape artist to draw inspiration from. There will be masses of pictures to spark your interest and Susie’s encouraging expertise to guide you so you’ll leave with a feeling of enormous pride and a painting that you’ll be astonished by.
